The African Art Book is a debate platform and encounters with professionals of art publishing and production critique.
The reflections that will be carried out concern the modalities of distribution of art books and the challenges of publishing. In a critical approach to the multiple facets of publishing, participants in the roundtables will share their experiences and perspectives on publishing.

L’African Art Book Fair est une plateforme de débats et de rencontres avec les professionnels de l’édition d’art et de la production critique.
Les réflexions qui seront menées portent sur les modalités de diffusion de livres d’art et les enjeux de l’édition. Dans une approche critique des multiples facettes de l’édition, les participants aux tables-rondes partageront leurs expériences et les perspectives de la publication.

1° – “Making books with artists”/circulation and distribution
The programme WE MAKE BOOKS in the Goethe Institute in partnership with the African Art Book Fair supports the creation of a dynamic network of art in the african continent and all the participants are invited to be part of a group of dedicated publishers in a continuous exchange on production and art book creation in 2022 and 2023.
The aim of this roundtable is to find the synergetic actions to encourage the circulation, in the entire world, of ideas and books from the global South. The panelists will share their experiences and propositions to tackle this question and the tools to make it possible
Le programme WE MAKE BOOKS de l’Institut Goethe en partenariat avec l’African Art Book Fair soutient la création d’un réseau dynamique d’éditeurs d’art sur le continent Africain et les participants sont invités à faire partie d’un groupe d’éditeurs engagés dans un échange continue sur la production et la création de livres d’art en 2022 et 2023.L’objectif de cette table ronde est de trouver une synergie d’actions afin d’encourager la circulation dans le monde entier des idées et des livres provenant du Sud. Les panélistes partageront ensuite leurs expériences et leurs propositions pour aborder cette question et les outils pour la rendre possible.

2° – « Design décolonial, discours & Presse afro-diasporique »
-The lack of visibility of African artists or of the diaspora is not new, whether it’s in museums or in the publishing world. Despite the internet boom, a new generation of afrodescendant publishers is the spearhead of a new wave of independent magazines, papers and afro magazines.
- How do these magazines implement a “decolonial” graphism to break with eurocentrism in the cultural sector ?
- What are the new discourses producted by the new generation of publishers ?

Le manque de visibilité des artistes africains ou de la diaspora ne date pas d’hier, que ce soit dans les musées ou le monde de l’édition. Malgré le boom de l’internet, une nouvelle génération d’éditeurs afrodescendants est à l’origine d’une nouvelle vague de magazines indépendants, papiers et magazines afro.
– Comment ces nouveaux magazines mettent-ils en œuvre un graphisme dit “décolonial” pour rompre avec l’eurocentrisme du secteur culturel ?
– Quels sont les nouveaux discours produits par cette nouvelle génération d’éditeurs ?

2° – Ndidi Dike : Discomfort zones : book launching and conversations
Presented by Iwalewabooks, this monographic book provides a detailed overview of the artistic work of Ndidi Dike, one of Nigeria’s most talented artists. Ndidi Dike is interested in the material manifestations of these global challenges and gives them a form that takes us into areas of discomfort and reminds us of our role.
This book is the first ever art monograph from a Nigerian professional woman artist living in Lagos and working on many continents.

Présenté par Iwalewabooks, les ouvrages monographiques donnent un aperçu détaillé du travail artistique de Yassine Balbziou et de Ndidi-Dike.
Ndidi Dike est l’une des artistes les plus talentueuses du Nigéria. Elle s’intéresse aux manifestations matérielles de ces défis mondiaux et leur donne une forme amenant dans des zones d’inconforts et nous rappelant notre rôle.
Ce livre est la toute première monographie d’art venant d’une femme nigériane artiste professionnelle vivant à Lagos et travaillant sur de nombreux continents.
Le livre d’art de Yassine Balbziou rassemble l’ensemble de son œuvre. Il est l’un des artistes contemporains les plus intéressants, basé au Maroc. La diversité de ses œuvres s’étend de la peinture et des aquarelles aux œuvres de performances, en passant par la porcelaine et la tapisserie.
